Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 25, 2026 · Last updated: May 25, 2026
The short version: PropanePal does not collect behavioral data, sell your information, or use third-party advertising. Free users store all data locally on their device. Premium subscribers can optionally enable iCloud sync to access their data across devices — that data lives in your personal iCloud account, not on PropanePal servers. We never see your propane data.
1. Who We Are
PropanePal is developed and maintained by Timothy J. Casatelli ("Developer," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data PropanePal collects, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that data.
By using PropanePal, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Data Storage
PropanePal stores the following data using Apple's SwiftData framework. For free users, this data is stored locally on your device only. Premium subscribers may optionally enable iCloud sync, which stores data in their personal iCloud account for cross-device access. In neither case is data transmitted to PropanePal's servers or any third party:
- Tank and cylinder names, types, and size configurations
- Propane level readings (percentage, gallons, pounds, or weight measurements) and associated timestamps
- Fill and delivery logs (gallons added, cost, fees, date)
- User-configured settings (reorder threshold, lead time, safety buffer per tank)
- Optional notes attached to readings or fills
3. Data We Do Not Collect
PropanePal does not collect, transmit, or have access to any of the following:
- Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
- Your location or GPS coordinates
- Photos, contacts, or health data
- Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV, or similar advertising IDs)
- IP addresses or network information
- Behavioral analytics, session data, or usage events
- Crash reports or diagnostic logs (unless you have opted in via iOS system settings to share with Apple)
4. How Data Is Stored
PropanePal stores data using Apple's SwiftData framework. The storage location depends on your plan:
- Free users: All data is stored in your app's sandboxed container on your device. No data leaves your device.
- Premium subscribers: Enabling iCloud sync stores your data in your personal iCloud account (governed by Apple's iCloud privacy policy). This allows cross-device access. PropanePal has no access to this data — it flows directly between your devices via Apple's infrastructure.
PropanePal has no backend server, no proprietary cloud database, and no API endpoints. We never receive, view, or store your propane data regardless of plan. All core features work fully offline — no internet connection is required.
Your PropanePal data may also be included in iCloud device backups if you have that enabled in iOS Settings. This is governed by Apple's iCloud privacy policy.
5. Analytics & Tracking
PropanePal does not use any analytics services, advertising SDKs, or behavioral tracking tools. Specifically:
- No third-party analytics (e.g., Mixpanel, Amplitude, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics)
- No advertising networks or ID tracking
- No A/B testing or feature flagging services
- No session recording or screen analytics
Crash logs may be sent to Apple automatically if you have opted in to share analytics with app developers via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. This is an iOS system feature you control; PropanePal does not independently collect crash data.
6. Third-Party Services
PropanePal uses one Apple-provided third-party framework:
- Apple StoreKit 2 — used solely to process in-app purchase transactions for Premium subscriptions and lifetime purchases. PropanePal does not see or store your payment information. All payment processing is handled by Apple. Refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles purchase data.
No other third-party SDKs, libraries, or services are integrated into PropanePal.
7. Data Deletion
You have full control over your data:
- To delete all PropanePal data: open the app → Settings → Delete All Data. This action is immediate and irreversible.
- Uninstalling PropanePal from your device permanently deletes all locally stored data.
- If you have iCloud sync enabled (Premium), deleting data in the app will also remove it from iCloud. You can also manage iCloud data directly via iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.
- No automatic backups are created by PropanePal. iCloud device backups and iCloud sync (if enabled by you) are governed by Apple.
8. Data Rights & Retention
PropanePal never receives your propane data on any server we control. You have direct control over your data at all times.
- You own your data. All propane readings, fill logs, and settings belong to you.
- We cannot access your data. We have no servers or databases containing your information.
- We cannot delete your data on your behalf. All deletion must be performed on your device (or via Apple iCloud settings for Premium sync data).
- We cannot recover your data. There is no PropanePal recovery service — keep iCloud sync or device backup enabled if data continuity matters to you.
9. Children's Privacy
PropanePal is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because PropanePal does not collect any personal information from any users, this is not a practical concern — but if you are a parent or guardian with concerns, please contact us.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where feasible, provide notice within the app.
Your continued use of PropanePal after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
